Mi Kyung Kim began piano studies at the age of five, eventually entering the Seoul National University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She later undertook further studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, gaining her Master of Arts degree. At the Mannes College of Music she earned a degree in professional studies, and at New York University she was granted her doctorate degree.
She made her New York debut by winning the Grand Prize in the Artists International Competition.
Throughout the world she has given solo recitals and also performed with leading orchestras.
In 1992 she was chosen as "best performer of the new generation" by the Journal of Music, and the Moscow News praised her as "a rising star worth remembering" after her performance with the Moscow State Broadcasting Orchestra in 1993.
Ms. Kim¡¯s recordings of solo works and concertos by Young Jo Lee, Mozart, Schumann and Saint-Saens have been released on CD.
